Masorti Shabbat

Please join me and Cantor Aranzon in welcoming Aklilu Dunlap as our guest speaker at Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday evening April 16th. The Shabbat right after Yom HaAtzmaut is a perfect time to celebrate Israel together, to hear about the Masorti Movement, and to “explore the promise of a more egalitarian world,” in the words of our guest speaker. Mr. Dunlap is on the Masorti Foundation Board of Directors and will share his insights and answer our questions. I think he is going to be great and we are going to learn a lot. I am very excited about this and hope that you are too!

Aklilu Dunlap makes his home in Minneapolis, where he operates a solo practice, the Dunlap Law Office, PLLC. Aklilu serves on several boards, including Beth El Synagogue Board of Directors, Jewish Community Relations Council Board of Directors, and The Masorti Foundation Board of Directors. He serves on several of these board committees, including the Tikkun Olam Committee, which focuses on anti-racism, climate change, food justice, and gender inequality. Committed to social justice and driven by incredible hope, Aklilu is dedicated to democratic governance and the wellness of the state of Israel and the Jewish people in Israel and in the diaspora, including Ethiopia/Eritrea, from which he helms. When not traipsing through the halls of justice, he can be found on a trail—training for another marathon—working on his Hebrew or planning his next trip to Israel.
